GOD OF THE DAY : DJ KOOL HERC - AS WE CELEBRATE THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIP HOP TODAY

Today we celebrate the anniversary of the beginning of Hip hop. Hip Hop has come a long way up to this point and this year marks a new milestone in Hip Hop history: Hip Hop becomes Most Popular Genre in Music for the first time in the U.S history this year. So we dedicate this post to the man that allowed all of this to happen, today we honor the God of the Day, legendary DJ Kool Herc. This Bronx native is credited with originating Hip hop music in the early 1970s and although he didn’t move into commercially recorded hip hop we have him to thank for figures like Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash. Hip hop is a subculture and art movement that once it was originated by DJ Kool Herc it was then further developed by African Americans & Puerto Ricans from the South BronxNew York City. There’s a lot more to the hip hop culture that many people may not be aware of, it’s more than just Rap its also DJing, Breakdancing, and Graffiti.
